Still not a Twilight Fan, but...

There was definite improvement in New Moon. The acting was... better. Still not Award Winning mind you, but it was definitely less painful to sit through this one.

While the movie certainly held my attention better, the factor I rank on whether or not the movie is worth it, is what I call the Cell Phone Squirm factor. Basically, during a great movie, I have no desires to check my phone, whether or not I've felt it go off. While that might seem odd to some people, those that know me know I have a bit of an addiction to my Crackberry. So, the more of an urge I have to check my phone, or go on Facebook Mobile, or even MSN Mobile, the worse the movie.

That being explained, I didn't start feeling the urge to check my phone until at least half an hour into the movie. For a little bit, I actually enjoyed it; the parts where Edward had nothing to do with it at least. I'll admit, some of the jokes squeezed a laugh or two out of me as well.

The entire premise of the story still leaves me rather unamused and completely unattached to it, however. The only need to finish the series comes from this innate and inescapable OCD I have towards book series, where I cannot leave a series, saga or trilogy incomplete. Save for that factor, I would definitely have not picked up the books after starting to read Twilight.

What gets me more than anything about these books and movies is the ages of those sucked into its following. Young, teeny boppers I can understand. They thrive on that kind of stuff. Heck, I probably would have enjoyed it had I read it back when I was a kid. But the older women and young adult women that are not only complete and utterly devoted fans, but swoon and sigh over Edward Cullen completely confuses the living daylights out of me. I have to wonder how many of the older women that swoon and sigh have really experienced life and reality. Because the ideas that the story portrays are beyond being romantic, and are, in my opinion at least, completely teetering on the edge of being obsessive and psychotic.

Anyways... it's almost one in the morning, I'm exhausted, and I just lost my train of thought. I will however add one more thing. A link to an amusing and awesome article about Twilight, entitled Top 20 Unfortunate Lessons Girls Learn From Twilight. I totally recommend you check it out

Take a Moment to Remember

It's Remembrance Day today, which I'm sure all of you know, but how many of us truly understand the meaning of it?

I remember classmates complaining in school that not only did they know no-one involved, but that the wars really had no effect on any of them... and it breaks my heart.

It breaks my heart for multiple reasons. The first being that the world we live in today would be a very different place without those wars. Had nothing been done to stop the overambitious, power-hungry men who pushed the lines, the world would be a very different place.

But that's not nearly as important as the second reason. Whether or not we knew anyone directly involved in the wars, the fact of the matter is that a lot of innocent men and women were dragged into it, and killed. And I don't mean just literally killed. There were those who had no wish of ill will to the innocent and uninvolved members of either side of the war, who had no choice but to go out there and 'do their job'. They were never the same people again. For that reason alone, we should mourn and remember them.

And finally... somewhere along the line, whether you know it or not, you are related to someone who died in the wars. It doesn't matter if you knew them or not, somewhere, someone in your family suffered a great loss due to this extreme display of how malicious and evil the human race can be.

So stop, and take a moment to remember them today. A moment to mourn for the destruction of people's lives, and a moment to remember the bravery displayed by those who served in the war. I know I will be.
